The Bank of England Museum tells the story of the Bank of England from its foundation in 1694 to its role today as the United Kingdom's central bank.

Adults and children alike will enjoy the special exhibitions on the Bank's history and work, featuring fascinating objects from our collections. Crack a safe, identify security features on a banknote, and don’t forget to test your strength by lifting a real bar of gold!

Children will enjoy the events taking place in the Museum during school holidays, from treasure hunts to storytelling. Plus, we offer free, age-appropriate activity sheets throughout the year. Complete the activity sheet for a small prize!

The museum is free with no need to book ahead. All of our special events are free, but some require booking. Check out what’s on at the museum to plan your visit.
