Description

Body & Soul supports children, teenagers and families living with or closely affected by HIV. We provide:

  • Peer support groups and information workshops for children, teenagers and adults
  • One-to-one counselling with mental health professionals
  • Information and advocacy on issues such as health and treatment, welfare, legal, human rights, housing and immigration
  • Skills development courses on a wide variety of subjects including HIV treatment, nutrition, creative writing, CV building/Interview techniques and IT
  • Complementary therapies including yoga, shiatsu and holistic massage, Thai massage, Indian head massage, physiotherapy and reflexology
  • Regular Citizen's Advice Bureau and legal clinic (on appointment basis)
  • Regular phone support for those not accessing the centre
  • Transport service for those with very young children or mobility problems
  • Referrals: health professionals, social services, voluntary organisations, and self-referrals

Body and Soul also provides:

  • Support for children under 12 (HIV not discussed), families and adults living with and affected by HIV: Tuesdays 4 - 8.30pm
  • Support for teenagers (13-19): Thursdays 4 - 8.45pm
  • Fortnightly specialist support for children 10-12 who know how HIV affects their lives, and for adults aged 20-25
